Cooking 101

There can't seem to be nothing more impressive than cooking at home for you and your family. Wouldn't it be better to have a good home cooked meal that has that home good taste, rather than unhealthy fatty restaurant food, that makes you feel drained afterwards. There is no way you can tell me that home cooked food isn't better than McDonalds or Burger King. Only one exception is that eating out can be fun, but why spend tons of money on one meal instead of buying recipes that will be more satisfying, paying half the cost. I enjoy being a homemaker pleasing my husbands tummy more than anything, and plus see that happy ending with "Wow that was really good". They say there's nothing better to a man than satisfying his taste buds.
I have done thanksgiving a few times since we been married, and sometimes he throws in a southern dish of his own, like green bean cassorole with bacon, and the yummy Southern Pecan Pie. With my husband being a southern guy and me being a Northern girl, I had to pick a cooking style that would please us both. I picked the Southern way. Why because it tastes so much better. Who would want bland food after they have tasted the goodness of spicy, creole meals like Red Beans and rice or a tasty treat for desert like Pecan Candy. Hey I never enjoyed such good food, and I learned from the master, my husband. How weird is that. I must say I may have had the skill already in me, he just brought it out with such nicer ingredients down here in the South.
When I was single I used to eat alot of box foods, and only cooked breakfast. I must say I was learning, and eventually got tired of the same old. I use to always spicin' my food up with hotsauce, but when I got intruduced to creole seasoning I fell in love. It gives so much flavor, plus when you cook with the onions, bell peppers and garlic, it's wonderful. I must say cooking is fun, but sometimes you get tired of cooking the same things over and over again. It's nice to try to have taco's and fajhita's, and also to try and explore and make up stuff.  But only with the exception of Thanksgiving coming around, I hope to enjoy the same thing we have evey year, who can get tired of Turkey, or sweet potatoe pie. Only the juicy and tender turkey and the sweet potato cassorole with pecans please me.  I have become a pecan fanactic down here in the south.
I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving!
